What the reading means
Good floating
Clear, steady water. Every trip length is running and the shuttle is on its normal schedule.
Low and slow
Late-summer levels. Expect a few gravel bars to walk over and add time to your float.
High — call us
After heavy rain the river runs fast and muddy. Give us a call before you drive out and we'll tell you straight.
Rain doesn't always cancel a float
A summer shower usually passes in an hour and the river stays perfect. We only pull boats off the water for lightning or high, fast water. And when the Buffalo does come up, it drops just as fast — often faster than it rose. High water is usually a matter of hours, not days, so a rainy morning doesn't have to wreck your trip. When in doubt, call — we're looking at the river right now.
